when is good time to start the formula as supplements for Cepheus, today, Bee Pheng and Agnes came over to visit Cepheus and bought him some handsome tee shirt and pants.. so sweet of them.. Agnes mentioned to me not to start his formula too late if i am considering to stop breastfeeding soon, as her brother went cranky when her mum started his formula too late previously.. I keep telling myself that i will start formula as his supplements after his full month for the night time, but now i cant help feeling xim tia that he have to go on formula .. to me its either full breastfeeding or nothing.. Cepheus have been on total breastfeed for the past month except for the first week when he is in hospital and my milk supply is still not there yet.. i worry that once i start on formula as supplement, Cepheus will choose formula over my breast milk and that i will also lose the motivation to lengthen his breast feeding.. however, i am also worried that i am not getting enough milk for him to be on total breast feed.. should i start his supplements now and so that he will still have enough breast milk to drag on or should i still insist on total breast feeding and then start on total formula when my breast milk ran out? which is better? I still need more days to consider...
I think your supply is still ok to sustain full breastfeeding for some time. Even partial breastfeeding is good for bb as our BM has all the goodness and antibodies.
Both Keane and Kayla were on 100% breastmilk > 6 months and they have not much problem with switching to FM after that. Kayla was fussing in the beginning but was ok when I switch FM brands.
Anyway, it's really up to your comfort level. If you feel too stress and tired, maybe stopping sooner will be good for both you and Cepheus well being.
Most importantly is to enjoy the bonding with your son and not worry about the supply etc.
Hi, I agree BF is up to mummy's comfort level.
My wife is stopping her BF as it is getting too stressful and amount is not enough to satisfy 2 babies.
Just to share, my niece who is on TBF for 1.5 yrs, refuse to drink milk from the bottle after switching to FM.
Now they have to feed her thru spoon.
Siong man!!!
hi wai meng, congrats on your twins, so is your wife feeling better now after stopping the BF? do you have any help with the twins or you are taking care solely on your own (you and your wife only)? It must be so hard when both wanted to be fed at the same time!
Hi, she is a much happier person although she felt bad about stopping BF.
I told her it's OK, at least we tried for one month.
We now have a maid to help out with housework and take care of babies.
Each night, we rotate one baby with maid and us to take care of feeding.
We are bless with quite a good maid as she handle our twins quite well.
